The entire vision that John describes in the Book of Revelation took place on a Sunday: On the Lord’s Day I was in the Spirit (Revelation ). And in chapter 4 he again reiterates: At once I was in the Spirit (verse 2). Of course he is referring to the Holy Spirit, the one whom elsewhere we have called the Comforter, the Helper, the Parakletos.   For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision” (Joel ); “Be silent before the Lord God! For the day of the Lord is near” (Zephaniah ). This is because the Old Testament passages referring to the day of the Lord often speak of both a near and a far fulfillment, as does much of Old Testament prophecy.

The coming of the Son of Man and the day of the Lord are back to back events (Mat. , Joel a). This day will come like a thief for those living in darkness (refusing to watch) (Rev. ). During the Great Tribulation, while the world is reveling in peace and safety, the resurrection will take place right before their eyes/5(23). II Peter - But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of person ought ye to.

This is likely describing the battle of Armageddon, when all the nations of the world will be driven by Satan to fruitlessly come against God in battle (Revelation ). The New Testament also calls the day of the Lord a day of wrath, a day of visitation, and the great day . There are two scriptures that at first seems to conflict with the idea of the Day of the Lord being one single 24 hour day, so we will consider those shortly, but before we do, we have to talk about a thousand year break or intermission in the Day of the Lord before the events of the Day of the Lord .

The Lord’s Day On A Round World A discussion of Sabbath observance as it is related to natural time measurement, the length of the days of Creation, the beginning and ending of the natural day, the International Date Line, and the Far north where. The Lord's Day on a round world: a discussion of Sabbath observance as it is related to natural time measurement, the length of the days of creation, the beginning and ending of the natural day, the International Date Line, and the Far North where during one period of the year the sun is above, and during another is below, the horizon throughout the full 24 hours of the day.

The Lords Day is the first book that introduces Harry Jones. The novel opens on Lords' Day, the official opening of the British parliamentary session. Amid all the pomp and show, former Cabinet member and military hero Harry Jones is handling some distressing news in his personal life/5.

The Lord's day is the day on which "our life has sprung up again by him." In other words, it is the day of Jesus' resurrection, the first day of the week. The Letter of Barnabas, written not long afterward, explains further: [God] says to them, "Your new moons and Sabbaths I cannot endure.".

The Lord's Day – What is it. The term "the Lord's day" appears in Scripture just once, in Revelation where John writes about being "in the spirit on the Lord's day." He does not elaborate or explain, leading many scholars to conclude that those he wrote to, the early churches, understood and were familiar with the term.

(Sunday, the first day of the week, was never known in the true church as "the Lord's Day," for Jesus Himself says He is "Lord of the Sabbath", which is the seventh day.) The apostle is giving the reader vital information about the time setting of his vision and thus the true application of the book of Revelation.

The Day of the LORD 17 There will be wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass through your midst,” says the LORD. 18 Woe to you who long for the Day of the LORD. What will the Day of the LORD be for you. It will be darkness and not light. 19 It will be like a man who flees from a lion, only to encounter a bear, or who enters his house and rests his hand against the wall, only to be.

The Day of the Lord is at Hand, has to be one IF not THE most important book for believers to read in these end times. We all feel the “pulling” of the Spirit to come closer but most of us do not understand our role during these times but this book by Benjamin Baruch gives the needed information and lets us know what the Spirit is trying to /5().

Answer: The Lord’s day (as distinguished from the day of the Lord) is Sunday. The term Lord’s day is used only once in Scripture. Revelation says, “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet.” Since the apostle John does not elaborate on the meaning of “Lord’s day,” we can assume that his target audience, first-century Christians, were.

On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul began talking to them, intending to leave the next day, and he prolonged his message until midnight.

John So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus. World Book Online is an engaging, verified, and trustworthy digital resource for grades pre-K through high school.

Lord of the World: A Novel, by Robert Hugh Benson, is a classic I had never heard of, but which boasts "I advise you to read it" - Pope Francis on the front cover.

Ave Maria Press released a new edition in of this novel/5. He is the author of 17 thrillers, including House of Cards which became a hugely successful television drama, and three previous Harry Jones thrillers, The Lords' Day, The Edge of Madness and The Reluctant Hero.

He tries to live quietly near a pub and a church in Wiltshire. For more information, go to (). For the compromised and apathetic church, disaster is ahead. For the church pursuing God’s will and mission with passion, the greatest delight and joy is ahead.

The Bible calls it “the day of the Lord.” Understanding the Story Fans of “The Lord of the Rings” know that the book ends differently than the climactic final [ ].

The “Day of The Lord” is the Biblical, Old Testament term used to refer to start of the end of age judgments of the book of Revelation which God will pour out on the world starting with a massive global earthquake.

This is a time when God will actively intervene in the affairs of humanity with devastating impact. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the Lord's Day is not a single day consisting of 24 hours, but a period of time that started in (the start of the First World War) that will include Christ's thousand-year reign on.

Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.” Exodus That is clear, isn’t it. Now we have learned three things. The Lord has a day. The Sabbath is the Lord’s day.

The seventh day is the Sabbath. And now verse This tells us why God made the Sabbath. And that though we do find a change, it is to "Sunday," and not the "the Lord's Day" - a name which has become practically universal.

Some Christians still perpetuate the name of the Lord's Day for Sunday: but it is really the survival of a Pagan name, with a new meaning, derived from a misunderstanding of [Revelation ]. In Revelation it is called “the Lord’s Day.”I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day.” They knew that the final rest was still future.

A day was still needed to bear witness to a self-reliant, self-sufficient world that our work does not save us or define us, Christ does. "The Day the World Gets 'Round" is a song by English musician George Harrison, released on his album Living in the Material World. Harrison was inspired to write the song following the successful Concert for Bangladesh shows, which were held in New York on 1 August as a benefit for refugees from the country formerly known as East : Folk rock.
